About Psychotherapy: Making sense, finding depth, and living more fully
Starting psychotherapy can feel like stepping into the unknown. At its heart, psychotherapy is a confidential and collaborative process where you bring curiosity to your own experience—your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and the patterns that shape your life.
Rather than offering quick fixes or advice, psychotherapy invites reflection. Together we make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface—how past experiences, unconscious habits, and present circumstances come together to influence how you feel and relate.
In this space, change begins not by trying to be different, but by seeing yourself more clearly. From that clarity, new choices and ways of living can emerge naturally.
What the Process Looks Like
Each session lasts 50 minutes and usually takes place weekly. You might find yourself talking about:
What has been on your mind recently
Key relationships or memories that feel significant
Feelings that are difficult to name or express
Situations that repeat themselves and leave you stuck
My role is to listen closely, offer reflections, and help you discover connections and meanings that might not yet be visible. Sometimes the work feels gentle and exploratory; sometimes it asks for courage and honesty. Either way, the process unfolds at a pace that feels manageable for you.
How Psychotherapy Enables Change
Psychotherapy supports change through:
Awareness – seeing patterns and feelings that may have been outside your conscious view.
Understanding – making sense of how your history and relationships have shaped your inner world.
Connection – experiencing a new kind of relationship built on trust, empathy, and authenticity.
Integration – as understanding deepens, old patterns loosen and new possibilities emerge.
Change in psychotherapy often happens quietly—through insight, emotional release, and the experience of being met differently than before.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take?
Everyone’s process is different. Some people come for a few months to focus on a particular issue; others stay longer as the work deepens. We will review your progress together as we go.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s completely normal. Sometimes words come easily; other times we begin with silence or uncertainty. Both are part of the process, and I’ll help you find your footing.
Will therapy make me feel worse before I feel better?
At times, exploring deeper feelings can stir discomfort, but this often signals that something meaningful is shifting. We go at your pace, ensuring you feel supported throughout.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. What you share stays private, except in rare situations where safety or legal obligations require otherwise. We’ll discuss this fully before we begin.
